The relationship between Kokuyou and Hisui is actually a very important part of the Wish plot. Everything begins because of them, as Kohaku is first sent to Earth in order to find Hisui, and that's why he meets Suuichirou... and them all end living at Suuichirou's as well. So Wish couldn't have even existed without their love ^_~
Story
Kokuyou first met Hisui shortly before one of the meetings between the Heaven and Hell high spheres. Kokuyou was in his way to the meeting when he noticed the archangel, who was healing a damaged tree near the spring - part of the "neutral zone" between Hell and Heaven. Kokuyou, even when that meant he would be late at the reunion, stopped and approached Hisui, completely amazed for his beauty, and asked him if they could meet again after the next round of talks at the Bridge. Hisui, who (strangely enough) didn't seem to be afraid of Kokuyou, even knowing perfectly who was he, agreed.
After meeting a couple more of times, they were sure thay had fallen in love with each other. Without talking too much actually... love at first sight. So romantic ^^; They skipped one of the meetings at the Bridge and stayed together by the spring - and of course by "together" I mean that, together ^_~ But after that, Hisui, who hadn't thought that could be a problem at all, revealed to Kokuyou his true identity: Kokuyou had never seen any of the archangels faces before, so he didn't know his beautiful mate was actually Hisui, *that* Hisui, the archangel of Wind. He immediately knew that meant they could never be together and free, as demons were banned at Heaven and angels couldn't enter at Hell either. So Kokuyou, knowing he never could let Hisui go, decided they would run away to the only world where they could be together no matter what: the Earth. And he offered Hisui his left eye as well, as a proof of love, and also to follow his family tradition: because when a member of the Infernal royal family decides on who he wants to spend the rest of his life with, he gives that person his left eye. I must say, to be honest, that this is one of the sweetest things I've ever read ^^;;
So Kokuyou and Hisui went away to Earth and stayed hidden... until Kohaku finds them. By accident, because Kohaku hasn't been able to feel Hisui's presence, as Hisui seems to have lost his angelic essence, his purity (^^U) after being with Kokuyou. Kohaku is at first very surprised and scared to know what has happened, and specially after knowing that means Hisui won't come back to Heaven anymore. But in the end he decides he won't reveal to God where (and who!) Hisui is, because he just wants Hisui to be happy, and it's obvious he's happy next to Kokuyou. Shuichirou, seeing how much Kohaku cares for Hisui and knowing they two don't have anywhere to go, tells them they can stay in his house, as it's obvious they don't have anywhere else to go.
Relationship
Kokuyou and Hisui are deeply in love. Is more than obvious. The way they look each other, touch each other, the way Kokuyou is always so protective towards his lover... maybe it is because, as I've said before, it was love at first sight. These kind of relationships are always so passionate ^^; But anyway, that's not all about the passion. There's a special understanding between them. A special chemistry.
As I've said already in the Hisui profile, we could say Kokuyou and Hisui take naturally the parental role in the little Wish family. Maybe because they're the only "adults" there, besides of Suuichirou... also because they're the only ones in a stable relationship... the experienced and learned, the only ones who have already defined what they want to do with their lives, and in that situation they're able not just to take care of themselves - but of the others as well. Specially Kohaku, Koryuu, Hari and Ruri need so, as they act like little kids most of the time ^_~ I'm not the only one saying that, many people thinks Kokuyou and Hisui end being a little like Kohaku's parents - and, in extension, of the other ones as well. They're the responsible, most mature ones, so they end taking care of the others. Even God knows that, and that's why in the end he asks them both to take care of Kohaku during the hundred years he must be sleeping, awaiting for Suuichirou's reencarnation.
