fanlisting?

According to TFL, a fanlisting is "a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor, actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject.". So, it's just exactly what it says: a list of fans. Maybe you think it isn't a specially useful thing... But isn't something good showing to the world your devotion and love for a determinate character, actor, book or whatever? So, this is what you do when you join a fanlisting. And, of course, you can always have the chance to meet other people who like the same you do... and that's always a great thing :)

why?

The first time I listened to Forever Love was, indeed, at the end of the X/1999 movie... five years ago, more or less. You know how the end of the movie is, right? Devastating. Actually I still think it is the most devastating movie ending I've ever seen in my whole life. I was staring at the screen absolutely shocked, looking Kamui crying over Fuuma's decapitated head and thinking something like "It can't be. They CAN'T end it this way!" And the movie... ended (I was still so innocent about CLAMP stories back then, even when I had read already a couple of the major CLAMP stories, Tokyo Babylon between them, I didn't know how much they love their characters and want them to be happy *sarcastic*). And the first notes of Forever Love started with the ending credits, and with them the feelings I had been holding in suddenly burst out... and I started to cry like an idiot. And I couldn't stop. Because the song was so beautiful, but still, so sad. Because a song talking about forever love after all that had happened in the movie, after how everything had ended, was such a cruel irony. But still, the fact I first listened to the song in that circumstances is the reason why I have this special feeling towards it. It's something I really can't express with words, but every time I listen to it now, I remember that time and I remember how I felt.

Thanks to this song I got to know X-Japan, one of my fav bands now. By the time I started listening to them, they already had split up. One of my impossible wishes is, actually, to attend one of their shows. Something that I'll never be able to do for obvious reasons... actually, one of the reasons why I can't help but feeling sad when listening the Forever Love song has also something to do with X-Japan themselves. Because at Hide's funeral, Yoshiki and Toshi got together for the last time to perform a tear-filled version of the song, to honour his bandmate. I got that video and I still haven't been able to watch it after all this years, because it breaks my heart completely and I have to stop it every time I try (I haven't tried in a long time, and actually, I've come to the conclusion I don't need to watch it ;_;). They chose that song because of the meaning - because they knew there was something really special about it, because is the most beautiful song they've written and one of the most beautiful, but heart-breaking, songs ever. I love it to death, adore it with a passion and it's the only anime song I'd ever bother to make a fanlisting for. That's why I applied, and that's why now I can't find the words to express my happinessafter getting it <3

layout

To make the layout, I went through my huge collection of manganime pictures and... well, I simply chose the X/1999 related ones I liked the most and tried different combinations ^^ There's something we could consider an error in the layout though, because the main picture is from X TV... but they are Kamui and Fuuma anyway, and it is a beautiful picture after all. Just pretend you haven't noticed, will you? ;)

For the little images, I've wanted to use pictures of the most popular/meaningful/important pairings in the series; couples that either share an explicit, canon love story, or have a somehow special relationship that isn't exactly what we could call a conventional romance - implying a one-sided love, an impossible love, or a true, strong friendship... but always with love's essence around them, in any form. From left to right, Kusanagi & Yuzuriha, Aoki & Karen, Subaru & Seishirou, Sorata & Arashi, and the three key characters of the story: Kamui, Fuuma and Kotori.
